Computer Requirements

Technical Information for Desktop and Network Editions:

The systems are customer installed systems.  They will install and run on old and new Windows operating systems.  Microsoft Access Run Time software will be installed that does not require Microsoft Access to be pre-installed on the desktop.  There is also no conflict if a version of Microsoft Access is already installed on the desktop.  An inexpensive color printer is required to be available to each workstation where graphs and reports will be printed, since many of them print in color.

Technical Information for Network Editions:

The Server and Workstation installs are both available on the same CD.  Make sure you choose the Server install option when installing on the server, and choose the Workstation install option when installing on each workstation.  The Full option should never be used.

Server install:  Easy to install CD.  You may choose the installation folder.  Install requires 1/2 mb storage with no data in files.  Each 200 incident records will require 1 mb of storage.  (We recommend keeping no more than two years of history on the files before purging records from the files, we recommend that you copy the entire file to a CD for permanent storage).  Remember - Backup the backend files daily that are on the server.

Workstation install:  Easy to install CD.  You may choose the installation folder.  Install requires 150 mb storage.  Requires minimum of 512 mb RAM.  On first open, system will require user to browse to the server backend files so that the system can attach them to the frontend - we recommend that this be handled by the Information Technology Department.

A license activation code will be provided to authorize the number of licenses purchased.  A license will be subtracted from the pool of available licenses the first time a user logs onto the system and enters the system main menu from each workstation where the system is installed.

Workstation install:  Easy to install CD.  Install requires 200 mb storage.  Requires minimum of 512 mb RAM.  May only be installed on one computer.  An activation code will be provided to authorize the use of the system.  Reminder - Backup the files daily that are on the workstation.
